Some of the views of John Mccain:
- Abortion - Roe v. Wade should be overturned, allowing states to enact their own laws. exceptions for rape, incest and when the mother’s life is in danger.
- Death Penalty - Supports expanding the death penalty and placing limits on appeals.
- Education - Provide parents with vouchers when approved by local officials and endorses the rights of parents to choose home schooling.
- Gun Control - Voted against ban on assault weapons and favors requiring background checks at gun shows.
- Trade - Advocates for free trade.
- Global Warming - Favors tougher fuel efficiency.
- Campaign Finance - Pledges to accept public funding and its spending limits during the campaign if the Democratic nominee will do the same. Co-author of McCain-Feingold finance law.
- Iraq - Opposes setting a date for withdrawal.
- Social Security - Opposes higher payroll taxes and would look at compromises to save Social Security.
- Gay Marriage - Opposes constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.
- Economics - Supports cutting corporate tax to 25%.
- Taxes - No new taxes and supports making the Bush cuts permanent.
- Health Insurance - Supports reforming the tax code to allow $2,500 refundable tax credit for individuals and $5,000 for families.
- Stem Cell - Favors relaxing federal restrictions on financing research.
- Immigration - Changed his views and now says a secure border is necessary before reforms can take place.
